Connie Ramsey-Befus – collage & pet portraits Connie Ramsey-Befus likes to explore colour, texture, materials and images in her collages. Found images often act as a springboard for the overall design of her canvases. Employing varied materials such as Japanese paper, acrylic paint, cut out pictures and type from old books and magazines, ticket stubs, labels, wrapping paper, and other ephemera, Connie likes to let the canvas ‘build itself’ as found ‘stuff’, colours and textures lead her on to other colours and textures. It’s just a lot of fun to start with one image and/or colour and not know how it will all turn out in the process. On the opposite end, Connie also does pet portraits, where a more objective end takes priority. She likes to paint an animal and capture something that really defines that pet as a unique being.
